The North Project was born unexpectedly during quarantine in Middlesborough, England, amidst the heart of the Covid-19 pandemic. With limited opportunities to interact indoors, I found solace in exploring the area, camera in hand. What began as an exercise to pass the time, quickly evolved into something deeper. The North of England is mesmerizing, with its rugged landscapes, storied history, and vibrant culture; there is an intangible allure to the area that I found and still find, both wonderful and intoxicating. Yet, its true magic lies, not in its landscapes nor history, but rather in its working-class communities – resilient, proud, welcoming people, who opened up to me in ways I will never forget. It is these men and women with their warmth and authenticity, that truly define the North's allure. The North Project endeavor is a tribute to them.
